When dealing with paper clutter I really wish I had a magic wand to make it all go away. The reality is that we have to make a conscious effort to keep those stacks of paper at bay. These easy answers for solving paper clutter will point you in the right direction.

Easy Answers for Solving Paper Clutter

#1. Create a Designated Area

So many times I find receipts, bills or junk mail scattered all over my countertops and dressers. Why is that?

I get in such a rush during the day I tend to toss things and not think about where they end up. So I created a spot in my kitchen, next to my son’s diaper bag, where I put all my receipts and mail.

#2. Take the Time

When it comes to easy answers for solving paper clutter, time is the one thing we need to designate in order to really tackle the clutter. For most, extra time is really hard to come by. I have found that taking at least 15 minutes a day to sort through my mail and receipts keeps me from getting overwhelmed.

#3. Sort by Importance

When you are able to take the time to sort through your paper clutter don’t just throw a huge pile in front of you and hope for the best. Start by concentrating on certain paperwork that is more important than others. Items like social security information, birth certificates, taxes, etc.

How I usually start with my mail piles by sorting my bills into piles then I file them away if they need to be kept. My next step is usually magazines and junk mail. Pretty basic stuff but, we tend to forget about the important things and get distracted. I usually start reading the junk adverts and magazines and get sucked down a rabbit hole. This takes our attention away from sorting through the important paper clutter.

#4. Proper Storage

We all know what our important papers are and where they are located. Or do you?

I noticed in my friend’s house that she tends to stack papers all over the place because of lack of space. Luckily, she eventually got a filing cabinet to help solve this problem but now she can’t find some important documents. These documents can make or break certain situations. See how important it is to have a proper filing system?

#5. All Information in One Place

Do you have notes on the fridge of important phone numbers or school schedules? Do you keep a separate notebook of passwords and logs? This can be something some of us tend to accumulate in an unorganized manner. We don’t realize we are spread out and can easily organize our normal household systems.

Well, I came up with a way to keep it all in one place so you don’t have so much spread around the house when gathering information. The Organized Household Planner keeps all the information you need to run an efficient household all in one place. No more trying to find where you left your emergency contact list or all the babysitters information. Check it out below:

#6. Go Digital

How easy is that? Going digital? A strange term to some of us.

Over time I have been paying bills online and opt-in for the paperless bill option. This has helped so much with the mail clutter and makes it so I don’t have to file as often. Such a great solution!
