Staying productive can be very hard if you are easily distracted. These are great tools that help you stay productive while blogging. They help boost your productivity not only in your blogging but in everyday website management or your work-at-home life.
Stay Productive While Blogging
1. Set goals
I put this as the one thing to do first because it is sooooo important to set goals. You can’t really get anywhere in your blogging if you don’t have a firm foundation of what you think is important. Striving for a target makes it seem more achievable if you plan to grow your blog.
For instance, my blogging goal this year is to gain 5,000 email contacts and maintain a full-time income. I really feel this is an achievable goal by the end of the year.
2. Make a Monthly Schedule
Now, take that goal and break it down to a monthly schedule. One way to accomplish this is to look at your main goal and divide it into reasonable segments.
For example, I would like to obtain 5,000 email contacts and I can do that by posting at least once a week to keep my content fresh, create free products to help my readers in their everyday lives, and write emails to my current list containing more free products.
3. Make a Weekly Schedule
Once you have the break down of your main goal you are going to take your break down and make it even smaller. It seems like a daunting task but it really does help!
In my example, I talk about posting fresh content. I can do this by making I have at least one post a week on a new topic. I can start in my first week by brainstorming free product ideas. The next week I can create the product and then the following week I can launch it. It’s all a process but you get the idea.
4. Invest in Training
Investing in training I believe is very important. It shows you your pain points while blogging.
I have been going the Elite Blog Academy course and I had no idea how much I didn’t know about blogging. It made me realize that focusing my attention on social media, in the beginning, will not help my blog grow. I need pillar content to give to my readers and the importance of an email list.
Without course investment, I truly think I would be running around with my head chopped off. It keeps me productive and focused on my goals.
5. Stay Focusd
Of course, staying focused is a big key when trying to stay productive while blogging.
What I mean is using a Chrome extension that helps you not get distracted while on the internet. Let’s face it, it is so easy to jump on another page while we are typing a blog post or reading a boring email. The black hole we are connected to takes up so much of our time. So this tool really helps make sure that you Stay Focusd and not lose yourself for hours on things that are not important.
6. Designated Workspace
Having a designated workspace is so helpful. It makes sure all of your tools are in one space. Everything that keeps you organized that is kept by your computer, and is not spread throughout the house, proves to help with productivity.
7. Turn Off Distractions
This is a must-do in our world of technology and social media.
I have learned to put my phone on “do not disturb” during my designated work time. It limits the need to check my phone to see if I have a text or an alert from social media.
A lot of people, I have learned, like to watch TV while they work. I have tried this. SUPER distracting. Even if I put on a show or movie that I am familiar with I tend to stop and start watching. So no TV for me, please.
8. Turn on the Tunes
Even though TV can be distracting music can be a little less distracting. What I do when I’m alone and need to crank out some work, I’ll put on a few of my favorite playlists. I keep the volume to a minimum. I noticed if I keep it at a reasonable level I tend to focus too much on the lyrics and lose track of what I am typing and reviewing. If the volume is low enough to be a little background noise it helps keep a relaxed feeling while I work.
9. Close All Your Tabs
Another way to stay productive while blogging is to close all your tabs in your browser. I still think using the Stay Focused Chrome extension is helpful but if you want to keep it simple, closing tabs would be helpful.
I even go as far as opening a completely different browser. For my at-home-job, I do all my work in Firefox and quit other browsers until I am done with my required projects. When I blog and do personal things I use Chrome but keep personal email and any personal research in an entirely different window. This is so I don’t mix up the tabs I have open and get distracted.
10. Take Small Breaks
It’s amazing what taking a break can do. I used to take one long break to have lunch but once I was nearing the end of the break my creative juices seemed to come to a halt.
I decided to start taking a 10-minute break every hour to an hour and a half. If I knew I had the potential of getting sidetracked and missing the break I set an alarm to force myself to stop. I even set a 10-minute timer during the break to make sure I don’t go over.
These 10 ways to stay productive while blogging has helped me through my journey. I hope you are able to take some of these tips and apply them. Let me know if you have any additional tips or like what you read.
